An adhesion promoter or primer is most commonly a resin system in a solvent-based carrier and is used to alter the surface characteristics of a substrate prior to tape application. This surface alteration enhances, or in some instances creates a modified surface for bonding with a particular pressure sensitive adhesive. Adhesion promoters are most often used to raise the substrate surface
