The 3M Petrifilm Plate Reader is a device designed for automated interpretation of 3M Petrfilm Plates. Designed to attach to a customers’ own computer via USB2 Port, the reader is a single-feed plate system; the technician inserts a Petrifilm plate into one side of the device, the reader then interprets the Petrifilm plate and ejects it out the other side of the device when complete. This cycle time is approximately 4 seconds.
The software portion of the reader is loaded onto the customer’s own PC. Results as well as the image of the plate are displayed on the computer screen. The reader displays raw counts as well as calculated counts and provides count editing capability. Results can then be automatically stored into a Microsoft ® Excel spreadsheet, text file, log file or all of the above.
The reader is also designed to provide its users with password protection capabilities and provides the ability to extend or limit the flexibility of what each user is able to do with the data based on the discretion of the database administrator. This device can be used with or without bar codes.
