Application Guide
Listed below are key applications for HGS18000 glass bubbles. Documents specific to the application are listed to the right.
Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Cements
3M™ Glass Bubbles HGS18000 are ideal additives for use in low density drilling cements. They can survive pressures of 18,000 psi, making them highly incompressible, and offer improved performance over aerated cements without the need for expensive compressors. Cement slurries made with HGS18000 glass bubbles have high compressive strength, minimal wait on cement (WOC) and provide increased yield per sack of cement.

What's more, because they are incompressible, multiple staging - commonly used in wells that require a long column of cement - can often be avoided.

Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Fluids
With a pressure rating of 18,000 psi, HGS18000 glass bubbles are the strongest available 3M glass bubble, allowing you to take advantage of their exceptional performance in deeper wells.

Virtually incompressible, HGS18000 glass bubbles help ensure constant liquid density through the borehole and allow for smooth measurement while drilling (MWD) transmission. They process easily on-site, require no expensive aeration equipment, and are compatible with surface cleaning and other downhole equipment.
