HGS10000 glass bubbles have a density of 0.6 g/cc and an isostatic crush strength of 10000 psi. The HGS Series glass bubbles are designed for low-density drilling cements and fluids used in the oil and gas industry.
Application Guide
Listed below are key applications for HGS10000 glass bubbles. Documents specific to the application are listed to the right.
Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Cements
The incompressibility and low density of 3M Glass Bubbles HGS10000 make them ideal additives in low density cement slurries. They offer improved performance over aerated cements without the need for expensive compressors. Cement slurries made with HGS10000 glass bubbles have high compressive strength, minimal wait on cement (WOC) and provide increased yield per sack of cement.
What's more, because they are incompressible, multiple staging - commonly used in wells which require a long column of cement - can be avoided in many instances.
Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Fluids
With a pressure rating of 10,000 psi, HGS10000 glass bubbles are nearly incompressible. Because of this they help ensure constant liquid density throughout the borehole, and allow for measurement while drilling (MWD) transmission. HGS10000 glass bubbles process easily on-site and require no expensive aeration equipment.
In addition, HGS10000 glass bubbles are virtually insoluble in water or oil and are compatible with surface cleaning and other downhole equipment.
