Application Guide
Listed below are key applications for A16/500 glass bubbles. Documents specific to the application are listed to the right.
Density Reducing Agents for Buoyancy
3M™ Glass Bubbles A16/500 glass bubbles are part of 3M's floated glass bubble series. They offer the same attributes as standard 3M glass bubbles - with high strength and low density (0.16 g/cc) - with an added surface treatment of a special coupling agent. This coupling agent makes them especially useful in high-tech syntactic foams typically found in remotely-operated vehicles (ROVs) and other undersea vessels. In these applications, the high strength-to-weight ratio of A16/500 glass bubbles increases buoyancy while withstanding the pressure of deep water.
