Application Guide
Listed below are key applications for HGS4000 glass bubbles. Documents specific to the application are listed to the right.
Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Cements
The incompressibility and low density of 3M™ Glass Bubbles HGS4000 make them ideal additives for low-density cement slurries. They offer improved performance over aerated cements without the need for expensive compressors.

What's more, cement slurries made with HGS4000 glass bubbles have high compressive strength, minimal wait on cement (WOC) and provide increased yield per sack of cement. And because they are incompressible, multiple staging - commonly used in wells which require a long column of cement - can be avoided in many instances.

Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Fluids
HGS4000 glass bubbles have high strength (isostatic strength of 4000 psi) and low density (0.38 g/cc). This high strength-to-weight ratio makes them ideal in low-density drilling fluids. Constant liquid density throughout the borehole is ensured and measurement while drilling (MWD) transmission is possible because they are incompressible.

Like all 3M glass bubbles, HGS4000 glass bubbles are virtually insoluble in water or oil, process easily on-site and are compatible with surface cleaning and other down-hole equipment.
