Abstract (US 4964509, US 4972945, US 5029699, US 5437387, US 5620759, US5647480, US5765341):
This technology describes six unique shipping containers useful for the transportation of containers of hazardous fluids. The shipping containers combine the features of cushioning to prevent breakage with absorbency to enhance safety should the hazardous fluid leak. The shipping containers are economical and some are reusable.

Technology Benefits:
Transporting hazardous substances involves risk that the container of hazardous fluids may break. This technology combines the key features of cushioning and absorbency in six unique shipping container designs. The benefits of these packages include:
Impact Resistance – High level of cushioning prevents the breakage of the hazardous material container.
Leak Containment – High level of absorbency reduces the risk of environmental exposure if the hazardous material container should leak or break.
Versatility – Designs for a variety of packages are included. Hazardous materials in a variety of container sizes can be shipped.
Economy – The shipping containers are sturdy yet lightweight. Some packages are reusable.
Federal Standards – The packages were designed to meet or exceed Federal standards for shipping of hazardous substances. Additional tested may be required based on changes in Federal regulations since the technology was developed.

Technology Uniqueness:
This technology is unique because of the combination of both excellent cushioning and high absorbency in very rigorous designs.
